Sturt Road Update - 15th August 2017

This morning I have received an update from South East Water on their work to reinstate the road surface following a burst water main on Sturt Road, Frimley Green.

Traffic lights are still in place to keep traffic flowing along Sturt Road. They will need to close the road on Thursday (17 August) to complete the repair.

This road closure will be lifted by 6am on Friday morning (18 August).

Planned Upgrade of London Waterloo - Timetable Changes to Trains

Any one travelling on South West Trains services in recent months or on other services connecting with those into London Waterloo should have seen advance notification of major infrastructure works planned for London Waterloo Station. There are very significant timetable changes required to facilitate the planned upgrade of London Waterloo. These works and timetable changes are almost upon us. This is a reminder to help ensure that you are up to speed.

In summary, between 5 and 28 August inclusive, fewer South West Trains services will run while work starts to extend platforms at London Waterloo. This will allow longer trains with more seats and more space for passengers. Although passenger numbers in August are lower than at other time of the year, whilst the works are taking place there may be longer than normal queues during the peak at all major stations on the South West Trains Network, along with station closures and more crowded services. Timetables during this period are available at To help residents plan journeys, view and download timetables and find more information please visit the South West Trains website. For more information on how TfL services will be running during this time, go to

There is a downloadable passenger leaflet / guide to travel during the Waterloo & South West Upgrade here. This leaflet shows which stations will be closed (non in Surrey), those that will have fewer services, those that will likely be much busier, etc.

There will also be works on a number of weekends throughout 2017 which will also reduce the number of trains in service on the South West Trains network. To check your journey at weekends, please visit Planned Engineering Works.

Obviously changes depend on when and where you travel, however, fewer trains will be running so many journey will be changed in the following ways, even if you are not travelling into London:

  • The majority of stations will have fewer train services
  • Services and stations will be busier than usual, especially in the morning and evening peaks on weekdays
  • Some journeys are likely to take longer
  • There will be queuing systems outside some stations
  • A small number of stations will be closed
  • Other operators’ services will also be busier while passengers take alternative routes, including London Underground.

M3 Closures - 5th May 2017 to 8th May 2017 and 19th May 2017 to 22nd May 2017

More disruption misery for M3 users I am afraid. Thank you to Cllr Mike Goodman for sending this information to me.

M3 junctions 2 to 4a smart motorway – weekend closures of M3 between junctions 2 and 3 in both directions.

We are writing to inform you that we will soon be lifting the steel beams into place as part of the reconstruction of Woodlands Lane Bridge at Windlesham, which sits across the M3 motorway around 2 miles east of junction 3. The work will take place over a weekend and will require the full closure of the M3 on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 3.

This is currently planned to take place from 9pm on Friday 5 May until 5.30am Monday 8 May 2017.

The work will primarily consist of using two cranes to erect and secure 12 beams across the carriageway onto the newly constructed columns to support a new bridge deck.

To minimize overall disruption we will also be carrying out 4,000 tons of low noise resurfacing in addition to the bridge works over this weekend.

An additional weekend closure at the same location is planned to take place from 9pm on Friday 19 May until 5.30am Monday 22 May 2017, in order to carry out a further 4,000 tons of low noise resurfacing and complete the installation of safety barriers.

We will also take these opportunities to carry out other critical work in the area which in return will help us achieve our scheme completion of the end of June 2017.

Please note that these works are weather dependent and should weather conditions prevent this work from going ahead on these dates there is a contingency weekend planned to take place from 9pm Friday 9 June until 5.30am Monday 12 June 2017.

Deepcut Bin Collections

Bin collections in Deepcut have always been a challenge for the councils refuse collection contractors in particular at Dettingen Park where they sometimes are unable to get their vehicles down some of the streets due to the way some residents park their cars. This has a knock on effect to the efficiency of the service to other areas.

The refuse crews have found that by adjusting the time they collect from Dettingen Park to the morning, that the access issues are less of a problem. Therefore, residents should make sure thier bins are put out the night before in order that they do not miss the collection. This applies to all in Deepcut (Including the Service Families Area) as the crews are likely to be in the whole area much earlier.

Updates on A331 Roadworks

The A331 Road works have been a major inconvenience for local residents . Please see this web-page for updates on progress and plans:

There will be some temporary respite from the works which will be suspended, and lane closures removed, from 3 December till early January 2017 in order to reduce the impact on Christmas shopping and local businesses.
